Gluten Free & Celiac Safaris
gluten-free-safaris.com    celiac-safaris.com

In my more than 25 years arranging travel for clients, I have had few requests for gluten-free. It wasn’t until I met my girlfriend who is celiac that I came to understand the gluten-free lifestyle and the stricter criteria of 'Celiac Safe'.  We had traveled together internationally, but I wanted to take her on safari with me.  The challenge is how to do that safely when safari camps are isolated in the wild and often have set meals?

I began to research what safari opportunities were available from other tour operators for those who are gluten-free.  There were few offerings and those programs I found were mostly one-off group tours someone had arranged.  What was particularly disappointing is that the properties those tour operators were using to achieve gluten-free dining were often poorly located with regard to prime wildlife viewing.  Consequently, if you are gluten-free you could take a safari, but only a mediocre one.

Thus, was born Celiac-Safaris.com and Gluten-Free-Safaris.com.  Through my extensive relationships with safari lodge and camp operators across Africa I have assembled a portfolio of well-located camps and lodges capable of providing gluten-free dining and those who further achieve a celiac-safe standard.  Thus, making it possible for those with gluten-free restrictions to journey to the prime wildlife areas on safari.

Each of our safaris is custom crafted just for you.  From a cost perspective, there isn’t a premium for traveling gluten-free, however, generally those lodges and camps that can offer GF are premium properties.  Thus, you are not paying anything above what the other guests are paying, but your safari may cost a bit more than one using lesser tier properties.
